Heineken Building
LOCATION: Rotterdam - The Netherlands
INDUSTRY: Utility
YEAR: 2024
For the renovated historic Heineken building in Rotterdam, a lighting design was created that is just as versatile as the spaces themselves—from modern work areas to a hidden bar. In close collaboration with MARS Interior Architects and based on our lighting calculations, a layered lighting plan was developed that gives each zone its own unique atmosphere and functionality.

Lighting That Follows Architecture
The minimalist Powergear 48V track system with Sottile40 spots plays a central role in shaping the spatial experience. By running the tracks not only across ceilings but seamlessly along walls as well, a dynamic play of lines emerges that enhances the architectural language. In this way, lighting becomes an integral part of the interior.

Contrasts in Form and Function
In addition to the 48V lighting, other Internova fixture families were used, each serving a specific purpose within the concept. Snello surface-mounted fixtures provide visual calm in transition zones, while Profonda recessed spots offer subtle functional lighting in representative areas. In specific zones like the bar and hospitality areas, the 3-phase track system with Meteora spotlights delivers focused accents and warm ambiance.

One Building, Many Atmospheres
With spaces ranging from open-plan work floors to an exclusive ‘secret bar’, this project called for a lighting solution that was both technically sound and aesthetically diverse. Thanks to detailed lighting calculations and a wide palette of Internova fixtures, each space was given a unique identity—tailored to its use, mood, and character.
